I know the drill: SHORTS, A TEE, AND ALL-STARS.

I do not gravitate towards these things. I tend to dress differently from my peers. Okay I'm going to say it--- I am a big non-conformist. Never have I liked wearing the same things my friends would wear, even when I was still in grade school. And yes, they would make fun of me because I liked to wear pants, and not itsy bitsy denim shorts. Well I'm here to tell all of you who are afraid to stand up to the norm, that IT IS OKAY TO BE DIFFERENT. Wear pants. Wear slouchy tops. Wear mens' polos and button-downs. Wear mom jeans. Do all of these things and not give a damn what other people think.

With that being said, I am here to present a challenge to those who live in "the uniform". Here are three basic examples of denim preferences. I nominate YOU to take these simple steps into making fashion your own. Though you may be "breaking the rules", you'll definitely look cool doing so.

Last night, I got home with swollen eyes, messy hair, with the smell of rain and the smell of bus all over my clothes. Yesterday was our last field trip. We went to Enchanted Kingdom!!!

Just kidding.

My batch did not ride the Space Shuttle, the Anchors Away, nor did we ride the Rio Grande Rapids. Instead, we traveled all the way to Paete to watch wood/ice/fruit carving, to visit two churches, and to hopelessly walk the streets and get drenched in the rain. I had to stop myself from cringing in my Scarecrow costume which was slowly disintegrating. My group's video concept was The Wizard of Oz, and we looked cute despite the dreary disposition (hehe). Highlight of the trip? The bus ride which comprised of dozens of bags of chips, Oreos, good friends, and...She's Dating The Gangster.

Today did not require any sort of carving whatsoever. The weekend has come, and I finally have the time to feel like myself again---with outfits sans the burlap sack and "hay".

Go sexy sexy love

I haven't been posting lately because I've been so busy with school! To make up for it, I've decided to post 2 of my outfits from last weekend. If you would notice, I LOVE BLACK AND WHITE. I am most comfortable in these two colors because they are subtly bold, and they work with any silhouette. I am definitely not a pastel and peplum girl. #Sorrynotsorry

On Saturday, I went to dinner with my family and I wore one of the tops I have designed. It's not clearly seen in the photos, but the front is black and white while the back has a white top half and a black top half. Looking at it now, it kind of reminds me of the LV checkered dresses.

Now on Sunday, I had my grad pictorial. I decided to be a "VOGUE cover girl". Doing the pictorial was such a thrill because I was not dressed as somebody else---I was dressed as myself. And so, it was easy to move around and do poses because I was comfortable in my own skin. That's what fashion is all about right?

I looooved the silhouette of this outfit. The white bottom half of the top seamlessly "blended" with the skirt---a very relaxed yet chic statement.

Last week's highlights

16 October 2014

It was a day of movie-watching and empathizing with Gloria from Butterfield 8. "I'm not like anyone, I'm me." Those words will always be dart sa heart. Her gorgeous looks coupled with her unending quest for self-respect makes her one of the most admirable characters on film.

On that day, I also watched Mademoiselle C---a film that gives a glimpse of the innovative and creative life of editor Carine Roitfeld. The film featured her countless editorial photo shoots of fantastical and provocative themes...which even included a girl, walking in a cemetery, covered in nothing but chiffon.

Nudity aside, here are some things that make up this week's mood board. I hope you get to revel in the emotions I was feeling while I was making these images.

The fabulous Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2014 show, which was Marc Jacobs' last for the fashion house, left the fashion world astounded once again. According to Marc Jacobs, the collection was inspired by the "showgirl" in every one of the women who have inspired him. I personally think that it was a great way to end his term. I mean, what's a show without showgirls? Congratulations to Marc Jacobs for creating a glamorous plethora of feathers and see-through bodysuits emblazoned with nothing but the words... Louis Vuitton.

It is a new chapter in LV's book. A new beginning. And a new plot twist, perhaps?

For those who don't know, Nicolas Ghesquière previously designed for Balenciaga for a span of 15 years. To read more about it, Click here. Alexander Wang now holds the reins at Balenciaga.

I can't explain how I felt the moment I viewed the A/W 2014-2015 collection by designer extraordinaire Nicolas Ghesquière. But basically, I was surprised. I have never seen the Louis Vuitton woman look like that. She wore basic clothing yet exuded an understated sexiness through the luxurious mix of fabrics.

It was the best LV collection I've seen in a very long time. I'm not saying that I favor Ghesquière's work over Marc Jacobs'. Marc's LV woman has always been raw, grungy, and mysterious. It was just refreshing to see more streamlined pieces which Ghesquière was able to create perfectly. His LV woman was the perfect modern woman--- a mix of the past and the future to bring vivacity to the present.

Freja Beha Erichsen opens the show with a black leather coat, given a nostalgic vibe through the cream turtleneck, thigh-high hemline, and boots. This introductory number was a teaser for more sixties-inspired outfits to come.

What's a Ghesquière collection without some ovoid sleeves???
(The first thing I noticed in this photo though, was the earring!)

Nicolas has got that spark.

" A new dress doesn't get you anywhere; it's the life you're living in the dress..."

This is one of Diana Vreeland's most famous quotes, which I think sums up what fashion is all about. And so, it was fitting to launch my blog with this quote.
Fashion for me is a way of life. It is how you walk, how you talk, how you sit, and how you stand. It is almost as natural as breathing. And though some people may detest fashion, then I think they ought to take a second look and check if they've got some clothes on.
