This is one of Diana Vreeland's most famous quotes, which I think sums up what fashion is all about. And so, it was fitting to launch my blog with this quote." A new dress doesn't get you anywhere; it's the life you're living in the dress..."
Fashion for me is a way of life. It is how you walk, how you talk, how you sit, and how you stand. It is almost as natural as breathing. And though some people may detest fashion, then I think they ought to take a second look and check if they've got some clothes on.
I think that we need fashion the way we need oxygen. And no, this is not based on superficial material wants. Through clothing and style, women are able to express themselves, and to be the persons they truly are. I remember Haider Ackermann saying how he admires the quiet woman who sits alone observing everyone, because that in itself is sexy. The language of lines, shapes, movement, color, ruffles, and pleats, can say so much more than words.
That's why I started my blog. I'd like to be that stylish woman, observing and absorbing the culture and phenomena of this day and age. I'd like to think about the stories that inspired the season's collections and the thoughts and emotions that propelled them, because these are things that matter. I'd like to slowly understand the power of fashion through my own perspective. I hope that through my writing, I can influence other women, especially those of my generation, to use fashion as a source of liberating empowerment. You do not need to wear denim shorts and crop tops to fit in.
