The Bazaar You Missed Out On

I love a good bargain. I mean...who doesn’t? When it comes to clothes, I do not splurge. (Well, only when it comes to ultra mega sale items that are out of my budget but still within that safe zone so as to avoid getting broke.) The tiangge at Greenhills, and sales at H&M already satisfy my fashion appetite. Topshop and Zara...they’re like gold to me. Shining. Shimmering. Splendid.

And so, when I found out that there would be a bazaar at the Rockwell Tent from May 15-17, I brought along my lucky wallet and the hope of carrying home a heavy shopping bag after the marathon.

The Superb Fashion Fair was this bright, colorful, heaven. It’s a miracle how good quality clothing can be extremely, extremely affordable. The bazaar’s got everything any fashion girl could want at the moment---neoprene bikinis, drawstring bags (in pretty cool designs), off-shoulder tops, sandals, mandals, Birks, and a smorgasbord of makeup.

Herewith, my finds from this treasure trove of a bazaar.

LOLA AND DAISIES

Halfway through our first round of "surveying" the scene, my friend and I came across this small shop. The rack filled with neoprene sets in colors from cream, blue, blush, and black caught my attention. Actually, I stumbled upon Lola and Daisies on Instagram, so I was SO GLAD to have finally come face-to-face with it. 

It's got all the fashion essentials of the now:

1. Funnel-neck tops 

2. Boxy tops in quality textiles (cotton croc skin, anyone?)

3. Matching sets

4. And A TON of basic tops 

I don't go for color. Never. (Well, except for navy blue and burgundy.) However, I really liked this print! The green colors aren't too summery so I could wear it and not look like I'm going to Bora.

Paris and Milan Photo Diary

If there's one thing I'll miss about Paris, it would be smelling like cigarettes and perfume after walking out of any joint. 

Ever since I was a kid, I've ALWAYS dreamed of going to Paris. I even bought a miniature Eiffel Tower and placed it at the highest shelf in my room to remind me of this dream. Paris seemed to have this certain charm. And, lest we forget, it's probably the birthplace of Fashion. Coco Chanel once walked down those streets. And Yves once reveled by the Seine. My affinity for all things vintage was another factor. Flappers and drunkards would mingle in cafes (they partied hard!) and everyone would just dance in the middle of the streets (according to Mrs. Vreeland). 

So I really needed to know: What's the big deal? 

I needed to find out for myself. 

I needed to experience those things, at least vicariously. (I mean, I can't travel to the 20s...)

When the time finally came to say bonjour, I made sure I packed some French basics and a whole lotta memory cards. 

The city was divine. And it seemed like having at least one pair of black booties is de rigueur. Everyone was well-dressed--just how I imagined it to be! The norm? Plain tops, boots, skinny jeans, a great bag, and well, black everything. Red lipstick is optional. I was thrilled to have finally witnessed what French style truly is. And I'm glad to say, it lived up to expectations. Did I see any famous faces? SADLY, NOOOO! Carine Roitfeld, I WILL meet you one day. MARK MY WORDS.

We went on this cruise boat by a quaint village called Bellagio. Houses must be of a certain color palette---nudes, browns, pinks, corals, oranges, and yellows. 

Reminded me of The Grand Budapest Hotel for some reason. (SUPER LOVE THE PINK COLOR!!!)

If ever you find yourself bored and in need of some sartorial inspiration, then these larger than life people with give you just that. It is also advised to bring out a pack of tissues. You may get deeply touched, or cry because of astonishment.

     From The Catwalk to The Sidewalk: How Social Media Changed Fashion

    
      There’s a reason why I love anything vintage/retro. From the jazzy silhouettes of the 20s, to the colourful fashion of the 70s, every era highlights and magnifies a certain facet of a woman. Imagine, a woman can transition from being a beautiful swan, to a pin-up girl, to a free hippie---and does so beautifully. The woman is a chameleon that changes colour along with the change of times. However, I have observed that this present chameleon is changing colour faster than it should.

Smells Like Teen Spirit

It's Official. I am now a #MegGirl. 

      If you know me, then you would know how much I love magazines. And if you REALLY know me, you would know how much I love Preview. It's the only local magazine that I collect. Until recently, I have chanced upon another magazine that may add to my monthly magazine budget. 

      I saw a copy of meg while I was in the grocery store with my mom. The first thing I noticed was how pretty and fresh Kathryn Bernardo was on the cover, all decked out in Marc Jacobs and not in the typical "artista look". I also loved how the main title of the issue was TAKE CHARGE. With the end of 2014 and the beginning of 2015, I really needed some inspiration and spiritual boost. And so, I promptly bought the magazine, robbing the stand of its last copy. 

      The moment I tore open its plastic cocoon, and smelled that magazine scent (weird I know), I snuggled up in my couch and began my meg experience. I was greeted by Bianca Gonzalez in her editorial letter, along with her cheeky creative meg team. I greatly admire the youthful yet fashion-forward layout. It is equally refreshing and engaging. The clothing they use for their editorials and other photos are from stores that teenagers usually shop in, which really makes it easier for anyone to hunt for whatever piece that catches their eye. 

And now, I will rave about the sections that really turned me into a #MegGirl.

A Very Merry Christmas

Hello everyone! Merry Christmas to you all!!! 

This Christmas season was truly joyful. I got to spend time and make precious memories with my family and friends. But, most of all, I was able to rekindle my faith in my Lord and my God. May the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ bring nothing but peace and happiness to your families!

My Christmas Day outfit, and certain characters that I would picture myself personifying, have been popping up in my head since last night. Should I be dainty and feminine? Classic and sophisticated? Or should I just throw on my black maxi skirt, put on a top and necklace, and call it a day? Well, I ended up revolving my outfit around a gift I received from one of my best friends... a headpiece! The moment I saw the headpiece I thought: MADONNA. For those of you who don't know, I LOVE MADONNA. (If you haven't listened to her new song, please do. It's called Living for Love. It's the bomb. Trust me.) I didn't want to look like I was in the music video of Borderline, so I went for a classic look with dazzling accessories and a black and white color palette. As I browsed through the images, I felt like I somehow evoked a 1940's / 1950's woman. 

Who knew that one headpiece could make me go time travelling?
